2024 June 4 Enchanting Insect Friends
Insects mesmerized me a thousand times today. Little sky blue butterflies booped all around the garden so quick I couldn’t get them on video. Then there was a beautiful yellow one that I’m going to try to identify. I got a video, so I’ll work on that.
Carli found the first grasshopper of the season on the Threadleaf Coreopsis Coreopsis verticillata “Zagreb”. The Coreopsis looks like it’s about to pop.
This grasshopper was so sweet to let me photograph him.
Carli and I then went to the Bay Boat Club to get rocks for the garden path and pond. It was a day of being in the moment, so I only have a few odd pictures. I need to learn more about rocks.
This rock looks like it has fossils in it .
When we got home and put some rocks around the pond THE MOST BEAUTIFUL dragonfly I have ever seen landed on the driftwood. She sparkled with blue, green and teal stripes on a black background. She was HUGE and had a long ovipositor that she booped around the log. I need to know about dragonflies. Of course I didn’t get a photo. She will shine bright in my mind though.
Last, as we sat on the porch tonight, SO MANY lightning bugs were all around the garden. I bet there were maybe two dozen. I’m grateful.
