2024 June 15 Impett Park Wetland Planting

Today, Greater Cleveland Wild Ones and other local organizations came together to plant a wetland garden in Impett Park. This is one of my favorite Cleveland parks, not only because it’s close to my house, but it also has a lovely wild section of old oak trees. In the spring and fall. A large portion of the park turns into a puddle and neighbors even say they see ducks swimming in it. For that reason, we took out the grass and planted all kinds low water loving native plants, in hopes that they suck up the extra water. The goal is less mud, more beautiful flowers.

I’m on the right, pulling non-native grasses out of the native grasses.
I ran into a friend who I only previously knew online. CMSD art teacher Kristen Plambeck!

We stopped by later on the scooter. Lots of progress! We’ll definitely watch it come alive over the next few years!
