2026 April 30 Soft Landing Update

This is the most exciting time for the soft landing planting! The bloom succession has begun! The Golden Ragwort Packera aurea is now in bloom alongside the only Virginia Bluebell Mertensia virginica of six that came up. Luckily, these are plants that will spread with time creating a groundcover of contrasting colors.

I love how Golden Ragwort has a sunny disposition even on a cloudy April day!

The one and only Virginia Bluebell is still happily blooming. One day she will fill out her spot in the garden. I was shooting for some blue-gold contrast, but it might have to wait. 

A small but important planting for our native insects and birds. The more plants, the more bugs, the more birds, the more life…
