2025 February 17 Local Bird Celebrity

The winter storm took away my holiday weekend. My Monday “off” started at 3:30am shoveling and salting at my new job as groundskeeper at Kendal at Oberlin. By the afternoon, I walked 26,000 steps; about 14 miles.

So the moment I pulled into my driveway I got a phone call from Tim Jasinski at Lake Erie Nature and Science Center (LENSC). I know when Tim calls, something wild is about to happen. And so it did.

Apparently he was being interviewed by Spectrum News health reporter Kimberly Perez about the avian flu and she needed to find someone who feeds the birds for part of her story. So he connected her with me, and she was on her way over to film the backyard. When she pulled up, the crows were swooping around the feeder. However, as soon as the camera came out, they skedaddled.

This was fun! I’ll leave the video here. I’m really happy she shouted out the native plants I grow for the birds and my special connection with the crows.

This is the print version of the video. The link is here
