2024 August 16 Harvest Time!

This is a fun time of year when we actually get to enjoy the food we have grown and see the buzz all around our flowers! Today, we harvested two tomatoes, four peppers and two cucumbers! There are TONS of green goodies getting ready for our next visit to Madison Park Community Garden.

I’m knee deep in beautiful, organic produce!

Looking forward to some mystery squash! I don’t remember what we planted.

The partial-shade backyard garden is a little less successful on the veggie end of things, but the plums were delicious and the grapes are ripening three weeks earlier than last year!

The Concord grapes are a bit smaller than last year, but ripening up quickly! I’m determined to make some jelly now that I have a little more time this year.

We added a new National Wildlife Federation (link) sign under the NE Ohio Native Habitat Corridor (link) sign, since the flag version faded out last summer. We continue our commitment to wildlife by creating naturals habitats, food and water sources and places to raise young. We know this yard is thriving by the chipmunks, squirrels, possums, raccoons, butterflies, bees, and so much more life that passes through. Last year we even had two deer, right in the heart of Lakewood!

The Yellow Waterlily, Nymphaea mexicana, in our pond blooms so pretty! It’s important to provide water sources for wildlife.
